The VP Speech! and MORE...

The day before Ty's speech was due, he and I sat together and worked on it for 2 hours.  It was a special time for he and I. Normally, we are off doing our own things, so sitting still with him for longer than d-i-n-n-e-r, felt so good.  We both chuckled a ton and he played a huge part in writing this speech.  NOTHING was in this speech that he DID NOT desire to say.

The morning he gave his speech, he had already performed in the talent show, so I think his stage jitters were gone.  He seemed very confident and ready to tell his peers why they should VOTE for TY GUY!  I was calm, but I think it was because I had my prayer warriors praying.  I truly felt the Lord's presence.

The reaction of the audience was priceless.  The outcome... HE WON!, but even if he hadn't been voted on by his peers to win, the reaction of the audience was MORE than I could ask for.

Ty, you have made me the proudest mommy in the world.  You are so brave.  Your peers and teachers really love you. Dude, you are going places!!! Thank you for being willing to speak about Jesus in your school.  I pray the seeds that you are planting help lead others to the cross.  Next year, you are going to ROCK at VP.  Bring it boy... I know you can.

I was so busy video recording the speech, that I was unable to take pictures.  A special thank you goes out to Donna Smith for capturing these amazing photos of Ty.
Ty ran against 4 other classmates in 3rd grade.  There was definitely a chance he would not have been voted on by his peers, but HE WAS.  Thank you Jesus!

The WINNER of the Fort Lewis Elementary School VICE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IS.... TY BOLLING!!!!!!

Ty's 3rd Grade Class Photo

Ty came home with his class photo yesterday.  I wish the photographer would offer this photo as a digital format. Instead, we have this nice 8x10, $16 photo. Grrrr.... Can you tell I am being feticious? It's a picture of a picture, hence the poor quality image in the post.

Monster Donut!

Tomorrow, I will be delivering goody bags and a Halloween snack to Tyson's 3rd grade class.  I have also designed/created/revised a Haunted House Mad Lib for them to do in their spare time!

The Snack ~ "Monster Donut":

Supplies:
(24) Donuts
(1) Tub of Frosting
(1) Package of Wilton's Decorative Eyes
(24) Plastic Teeth
(24) Pieces of Bubble Gum
First step: Purchase donuts :)
Second step: Insert Plastic Teeth - *note* the teeth expand out and start to break the donut.  They do not stay in place fully, so don't think you are doing something wrong when this happens!
Third Step: Using your frosting, "glue" the eyes to the donut AND fill the hole mouth of the donut.
Step Four: Insert Bubble Gum!  I had a hard time coming up with a tongue idea.  I thought about mentos, but I wanted the tongues to be pink, so I would have had to of bought 10 packs to get all pink "tongues".  Lifesaver gummies were another option. I am not certain Tyson's teacher or principal will be thrilled with my choice.... gum!
I hope Ty and his classmates have as much fun eating this snack as I had making it!!!!

An "Apple" For The Teacher's First Day Of School

I like to start the year off the "write" way... by BROWN nosing.  LOL!  Just teasing.  I am always looking for an excuse to get creative and to give someone a gift.  Each year, I shower my children's teachers with special little gifts, allowing them to know how important I think their job is. After all, I WOULD NEVER desire to have their job... for my kids or  anyone else's.  Hehe.
Supplies:
Notebook
Target Gift Card
Pencils
Card Stock
Printable
Ribbon
The finished look.
I gave one to my BFF, Ashely, because she started homeschooling Monday.  She is an incredibly patient and willing mommy, to teach her children, and I wanted to bless her with a little something.  Although I am not a homeschooling "fan", FOR ME, I am so excited for HER because this is right up her alley.  She is going to be an amazing teacher to her children.
I had some left over printables, from last year, for the pink and purple bottles.  I didn't like the way the "teacher emergency kit" labels looked on the above bottles.  It's all about the presentation. :)
The pink and purple notebooks are for Lilah and Jaxon's teachers for next Wednesday, so "shhhhhh", don't tell them!!!!
Inside the bottle:
Chocolate
Gum
Chrystal Light Packet
"Smart Cookie" Hand Sanitizer
Enclosed is a printable that I have asked each teacher to fill out, so I can learn about "a few of their favorite things".  This way I can be sure to bless them with things they love.

#THIRDGRADE

It seems like just yesterday, I was putting my little man on the bus for his FIRST day of public school, but NOW, he's in 3rd grade! I had to pinch myself this morning to believe that 1. The Summer Is O-V-E-R and 2. That My First Born Child Is A 3rd Grader.
As I do every year, I left Tyson a few "back-to-school" goodies!!!
He had a smile from ear to ear when he saw this waiting for him!
Before we took any serious photos, we had to make light of our "saying goodbyes"!!!
"Is it just me or does it seem like mom is a little too excited about the first day of school?"
Ty holds on to the door for dear life.
"Please..... don't make me go back to school!"
This photo was ACTUALLY a serious photo.  NOT posed. Tyson was over the picture taking and was pouting about more photos, but it's another comical photo.  He said, "Mom, you are a picture queen!"
And here's my sweet 3rd grader.  He got up at 3:30 am this morning.  First, his hamster was "running too fast" and he had to move his cage to the bathroom.  At 4:30 am, his "tummy hurt".  At 5:00 am it was "I can't fall back asleep."  So I prayed with him and over him and he was able to fall back asleep until 6:15 am.  Here was was his a.m. schedule for people like Ashely, who care...

6:15 am -   Shower
6:30 am -   Breakfast/Devotional
6:50 am -   Photos
7:10 am -   Off to the Bus Stop
11:30 am - Lunch
2:40 pm -   Home
5:30 pm -   Football
7:45 pm -   Dinner
8:15 pm -   Shower
8:45 pm-    Prayers and Lights Out

REPEAT!!!!!!
Here is his spiffy book bag and water bottle.  I allowed him to choose what HE wanted.  That's also why he is NOT dressed up in a collared shirt and "fancy" shorts.  It's all about the "comfy" clothes.  And for Tyson, it's ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL about Lebron James.  He was dressed from head to toe with Lebron attire.  He even has a Lebron James lunch box, but it didn't arrive on time :(
The bus arrived at 7:14 a.m..  I was happy to see the driver was still Ms. Robin.
 Tyson's snack today!
I used edible markers to leave a special note on his banana.
Lunch: PBJ, Strawberry/Blueberry Blend, BBQ Chips, Powdered Donuts, Water, and a few notes of encouragement.
"Be Respectful to Everyone!"

"Praying for you!  Asking God to make you strong!!"

I'm anxious to see and hear all about his first day of school!  I hope it's positive. AND I hope you he has NO HOMEWORK!  I'm in denial about how demanding this grade is going to be. We miss him a ton.  The house is very quiet and everyone is getting along so well :)

FT. LEWIS "BACK TO SCHOOL" NIGHT - 2013

Last night, Tyson had his "Back To School Night".  We learned, on Monday, that Tyson has Ms. Zimmerman for 3rd grade, which is who Tyson wanted.  So that is a plus!  As Ty is getting older, back to school night is very short.

We dropped off his school supplies.
Met Ms. Zimmerman
(I told Ty I will stop taking pictures of him and his teacher in middle school:)
Found out which friends were going to be in his class.
Reviewed his schedule.
And learned that he is in the "peanut free" classroom AGAIN this year.
Boooooo!  WE ARE NOT HAPPY about this news.
Ms. Zimmerman warned me that this year is HUGE along the lines of homework and seriousness due to SOLs.  We are very blessed, in that, Tyson has breezed by the first (3) years of public school with straight S's and A's (smarty), but I am very nervous NOT KNOWING what I am up against with SOLs.  If you think about Tyson, please pray for him.  With football (4) days a week, Church (2) days a week, school, and SOLs to worry about, he has a lot on his plate, for a little 8 year old.
