Highlanders 6 & 0

Our team is still leading the way... 6 & 0.  It's been an amazing season.  My prayer is that these boys can remain together next year.  I can only speak for Darren, but I can't imagine the other coaches NOT agreeing, that he has said a dozen times or more, "I love those boys!"  I am "forced" to video record the games this year, so my photography is just not up to par the way I'd prefer to capture a game.  I try reallllly hard NOT to capture pictures of JUST MY SON, but rather all of the boys, so that I can share these photos with the parents/teammates at the end of the season. Between video recording, conversing with other fans, and watching the twins, I just cannot find a HUGE opportunity to also use the camera :(  TONIGHT was one of the few times I took pictures of Tyson ONLY and that was because the video camera died, during the last few minutes of the game, and Tyson made a huge play.  These pics were taken ALL in two plays.
Let go of my boy's arm.
 Run Tyson, RUN...........
They almost had him, but he slipped away.
 BUT...
Not for long... tackled by the Salem team.
These two cuties where looking adorable, until they chose to roll down the hill.

TEAM HIGHLANDERS

No matter the age..... boys will be BOYS!
"How strong?  TOO STRONG!!"

My Main Lunch Box Tool

I forgot to include this lunch box "tool" in my lunch box tool post.

It's a simple "cocktail" glass.  It cuts every ounce of the crust PERFECTLY and replicates the look of those pb&j's sold in the frozen section at your local grocery store. I believe they are called uncrustables.
Darren hates when I use this cup  He thinks I spoil our children JUST BECAUSE I cut the crust off.  He also says that I am ruining the glass.  He says it permanently smells like peanut butter.

A blog post from Lilah....

Lilah and Jax are in the "Fun Frogs" class.  Every Friday, someone gets to bring home "Friday the Fun Frog".  They are assigned a letter and at the end of the weekend, they are to write a "story" or draw a picture about their time with him. Their assigned letter is supposed to be incorporated into the story or drawing. Here is Lilah's story of her time with "Friday the Fun Frog".

"Dear Mrs. Donna, Mrs. Cheryl, & Classmates,

I was so excited to get “Friday the Fun Frog” on Friday.  When I got home from school, Friday and I took a nap, in my brother’s comfy bed.  My family and I had plans to spend the evening with our Church family. The grown ups talk about what they learned at Church the week before and the children get to play together in a separate room.  We call that small group.  So… we took a car ride to Pastor Brett’s home.
After small group was over, all of my friends and I ate cookies together.
See my friends?  There’s me, Lilah, Jax, Cohen, Caleb, Ansley, Vivian, Kate, Hank, Josh, Tyson, and Presley.  Josh, Mrs. Donna’s son, joined us as well.  And normally Julia is a part of our small group, but her mommy was home sickWe left around 9:15 pm and headed home to go catch some sleep.

The next morning, we ate cereal for breakfast; Lucky Charms to be exact.  Josh had to leave early because he had a soccer game to go to.  We prayed for him, at breakfast, to make a goal.  We found out later that not only did he score a goal, but his team creamed the other team.
On Saturday, my family and I went to the Virginia Tech football game.  That is the college that both my mommy and daddy graduated from.  When we arrived, we went to the concession stand and purchased some stadium “chow”.  Then we sat in our seats and watched the football players run after the ball and catch it.  My favorite part was watching the cheerleaders.  It rained the entire game, so we left at half time.

Friday and I had fun “clowning around” in the rain! We got so wet.  After the game, mommy and daddy took us to Sweet FROG for some ice cream.  We thought maybe Friday the Frog would see his cousin there.  He was too busy enjoying the candy on top of his ice cream, to notice if his cousin was there or not.

Later that night, my mommy and I listened to a song on the computer that our church choir has been singing a lot.  It’s called “Christ Alone, Cornerstone!  Do you know who Jesus Christ is? He is our Savior, who died for us on a cross, saving us from our sins and the wrath of God.
On Sunday, we went to Church.  We go to church at West Salem Baptist Church.  We are so thankful for our family in Christ.  I watched my mommy sing in the choir and then I went back to my classroom to learn about Jesus and play with my companions.
I’ll introduce you to my church friends: Kate, Jax, ME, Charlotte, and CalebJax's best buddy Cohen is normally in there, but he went to hear the BIG BOY sermon with his mommy and daddy.

After Church, we enjoyed a beautiful day by the creek. We went on a bike ride and enjoyed touring God’s marvelous creation

We saw people riding in canoes, catching fish, and my crazy daddy climbed a big tree.  On our bike ride back to the car, we looked up and saw the fluffy clouds. They looked like cotton balls. It was so hot that mommy and daddy treated us to ice cream again.  I chose to eat a cupcake instead.

Friday, you will be missed. It was so nice having to cart you around everywhere we went.  I think my mommy and daddy felt like we had a fourth child in our home.

Since I have a brother in Mrs. Donna’s class, you will be coming back to my house eventually!!!"

THE END!

Lunch Box Tools

I've been meaning to do a post on my "lunch box tools".  I don't have many.  Sadly, Tyson is completely UNFAZED by my efforts to make his lunch fun, funny, and exciting to open.  Even more sadly, it hasn't stopped me from continuing to "impress" him.  I enjoy going a little more in-depth than most, but I don't think that makes me an extra special or a better mom.  Most people don't value it as creative, but rather annoying, over-the-top, or I've even had the comment said, "How do you find the time to...". I think that comment equates to "She has too much time on her hands."  NO!  No, I don't.  I just prefer to spend my time differently than some moms. I don't watch tv.  I get up EXTRA early in the morning (4:30 am) and God has gifted me with the desire to be creative.  Everyone is different.  So please, stop thinking I have too much time on my hands.  OR better yet, come live in my shoes for a week and then you will wonder how everything actually gets done the way it does :)  OR HOW ABOUT being complimentary and uplifting someone instead of tearing them down.  YIKES!  I think I just used this blog post as a form therapy.  Sorry.  YES... bitterness can sometimes seep out. Now that I just lashed out, ahhhh, I feel better.  I ask for your forgiveness AND...

Back to my post, LOL!

I came across a blog that I absolutely love.  It's meetthedubiens.blogspot.com  This woman is an amazing mom, who ALSO, chooses to spend her time differently, allowing her the ability to make her children's lunches interesting and fun. She ALSO has been rudely persecuted with the comment "She has too much time on her hands."  She has personally told me that she is actually a very hard-working mother.  VERY busy.  Her children go to a nut and egg free school, so she decided to make her children's lunches creative.  It's taken her pretty far. She's been featured on many blogs.  Food companies ask her to use their foods to create unique lunches.  She's been in parenting magazines, and if I am NOT mistaken has either created a food book or is about to.  Cheerios has been the most recent company who has contacted her.  She has an INSANE amount of lunch box "tools". I believe she must also be an artist.  I could NEVER even come close to making my lunches as creative as hers, but she has inspired me to at least TRY.

Here's what I've got....

 Edible Food Markers
I have used these to draw on a banana peel.
I have also used these to write on sandwiches.

Lunch Box Notes, Encouragements and Facts
 Left: Godly Words of Encouragement
 Right: Lunch Box Love
It's a "box" set that includes enduring love notes and facts.
 Sandwich Cutters
 Hearts, Butterflies, Dinosaurs, and Batman
I have more, but these are the ones that I chose to take pictures of.

Pampered Chef Cutters
These cutters are miniature.  The size of a half dollar.
I use them for cheese and fruit from time to time.

Again, nothing compares to the lunches that Jill makes for her children.  Here is a recent picture of the sandwich she made for her children.  Jill... do your children appreciate it?
Jill you ROCK and so does ANY MOM, food art or NOT, that takes the time to do anything extra special for her children.  God has created everyone unique and different.  Be who you are and stop comparing yourself to others.  Your talents are your own.  Surprise your children.   Better yet, surprise yourself.  I think you will be stunned at how much fun and therapeutic it can actually be.
