Who Who Likes Country Music?

NOT ME! BUT... Ty does! Huh?!?! Oh how I wish blogger would give us an option to insert emojis.  I would insert the "sigh" and "eyerolling" emoji here.  LOL!  I captured this QUICK video, during the Summer, while Ty was working on his pre-AP Summer reading project. Darren and I are NOT country music fans, so when I get my hands on the weasel who introduced him to this music, I will squeeze AND hard.  LOL!  Just kidding.

Middle School / 6th Grade Update!

Just a quick update on my 6th grader's first few weeks of middle school... FIRST up, we decorated his locker, several weeks before school started, and practiced the combination code.  He was more than ready!
The BEFORE decorating the locker!
We bought several items that really helped add more "room" to his 2x2 locker space.  LOL!
Above/Below: 12" Wire Shelf from Office Max
Below: Magnetic Dry Erase Board, replicating a basketball court (comes with a marker, ball, and hoop).
This momma wrote a little note, reminding Ty of what matters.
Below: Locker Tash Can.
I am anti-trash cans, so we used this adorable locker trash can to hold jolly ranchers.
Below: Magnetic Pen Holder.
We put extra pencils, markers, and erasers in this holder.
Locker Mirror (You know, so he can look spiffy and make sure he doesn't have a booger in his nose or something stuck in his teeth.).
Below: Magnetic Mesh Holder.
Snacks in this holder: granola bars.
Below: Magnetic Mesh Bin.
We put tissues, hand sanitizer, gum, and breath mints in this holder.
An air freshener, after all, we don't want his locker smelling like BO or stinking shoes.
Tada!
Tyson was very pleased and thanked me over and over for helping his locker be "first day" ready!
The AFTER decorating.
Do you see Ty peaking through his mirror and into my camera?
I am pretty sure Tyson was made for middle school.  He has fit right in.  He is doing excellent in all of his classes.  He received a 100% on his Summer Reading projects that he had to work on ALL SUMMER (AND I did NOT help him with ANY of it). He is the quarter back of his football team (huge responsibility) and the ball boy for the Glenvar High School football team.  MOST Fridays, he leaves the house at 7:30 a.m. and doesn't return home until 10:00 p.m. or later. He attends all of the after school "dances".  He goes to all home and away games.  The BIGGEST addition to his middle school life is that he now has a cell phone.  Sigh... He is getting so big.  We have a lot to be proud of and thankful to God for.  Last week, was his first picture day in 6th grade. I don't think this kids has looked BACK on elementary school.  LOL!

Selfie Videos

Apparently, Lilah stole/hacked my phone and weeks later, I found out everything she did with it. She is seriously a HOOT! Ignore her hair.  It was a MESS!

Football Conditioning / Tire Drag

Football season is halfway over and my boys know where they stand on their team.  We are brutally honest with our kids, IF they ask OR if they need to be set back to reality, but truthfully, my kids very much desire to be "the best", so it KILLS them if they don't make a single tackle during a game, if they get sacked, or if don't stay in the game the entire time.  Darren and I have a common saying, "You get what you work for, not what you wish for!" It is certainly NOT to discourage our children, but rather it is meant to encourage them and make them work that much harder.  With that being said, Jax had been begging me to get him some tires.  He wanted to improve his football skills.  So, this past Sunday, I texted one of our closest friends, Zach Harris.  He happens to not be only our friend, but a race car competitor and Jax's football coach, PERFECT!!!! Zach dug out some old racing tires from the mountain side, that he lives on, and headed over with his two boys: Cohen and Caleb. Both of our families joined in on the fun!!!
We used the two tires, a belt, and rope!!!!
Jaxey got to go first.  Coach Zach timed the boys so that it could be MORE competitive.
Cohen beat Jax by 10 seconds I think.  Is that right Coach Zach?
Ty beat Cohen by 10 seconds.  Is that right Coach Zach?
Little brother Caleb gave it a try too!
Then, little sister said, "What boys can do, girls can do BETTER!!!!"
And then of course #fitdad and #fitmom took a turn.  I am so thankful Darren didn't snap photos or videos of me.  I was still in my dress from church, LOL, but I had tennis shoes on. Of course Darren beat everyone! Darren did say, "I was pretty impressed at how fast you went."
After the tire drag, the boys rolled the tires up the hill.
Look at his little tongue out.  Hehe.
Enjoy some of the video clips (out of order) and I apologize in advanced, but the quality is poor (thanks I-phone).
This was a blast and I was even thankful for the exercise. ALTHOUGH tiresome and taxing, I love this type of stuff. Thank you Zach for fulfilling my little guy's dreams.

Orange You Cute!

I really enjoy adding some joy into my kids' day.  The school day can definitely drag on I am sure and who wants to eat the same lunch day in and day out?  We aren't dogs.  LOL!  Since I am not with my kids throughout the day, I do my best to either put something new in their snack bag, create a fun lunch, or include a note of encouragement, a joke, or a bible passage for them to read.  Today, their fruit is a juicy clementine.  Nothing fancy at all, so I embellished it up and enclosed a cute saying to go along with it.  I hope they get it!
These bento leaf picks were purchased on Amazon.com.  I bought them two years ago.  I just haven't used them this year yet.  They are really affordable and can be used to give an orange a "freshly picked" look.  This pack also includes double stem picks for cherries or cherry tomatoes. #playwithyourfood.

Why Does It Feel Like, Somebody's Watching Me?

Last year, I came up with my own clever, spooky, and fun Halloween party favor for my children's classroom parties. Yup... I said last year! AND yes, I have yet to blog about it, but NOW just seemed like the perfect time since there are only 40 days until Halloween. I purchased everything eyeballs (chocolate, bouncing balls, and glasses) and created my own label that read:
"Why does it feel like somebody's watching me?"
I sealed all three items up in one, clear, fitting cellophane bag and attached the label with some raffia.  It was definitely a hit. I know I took more photos, but I will have to locate them before posting them.  Sigh.  In the meantime, fyi, all three items came from Target.
If you would like to snag this idea, I am offering my label to you FREE! Just click here, download, and print!!! Enjoy!!

Glenvar Youth Rec Night!!!

I have so much to blog about and so little time... haha.  That sounds funny, but it really is true.  I am sorry that it's almost been a week since I have posted.  I am a stay at home mom and I truly can't find the time.  Just too much to do.  Anyway, last night, was Glenvar  Youth Rec Night.  The youth get to run on the field at half time and the youth cheerleaders can to cheer with the High School cheerleaders for a little while.  These pics aren't the greatest simply because most of the kids were running in the dark, it's a hard atmosphere to capture good photos in.
The cheerleaders ran out onto the field first.
I love all of the sweet smiles!!
Then my Jackey Jo's team was next.
#9 is such a cutie!
Then BIG BROTHER's team.
You can tell that they are being GOOFY because of their smiles.  Their smiles scream #uptonogood.
The little cheerleaders cheered with the big cheerleaders at halftime.  Lilah always takes to our favorite, Chynna.
She wants a sister so bad!
My girl is RIGHT where she loves to be... PERFORMING!
Meanwhile, back on the filed, we were actually supposed to be watching a football game between Glenvar High School and Grayson County.  There's my handsome ball boy!
#78 is our pastor's sone, John.
Ty and the other ball boys just "chillin" with the football players.  I am sure this is an amazing place for these younger players, but as a protective momma, it makes me nervous. I pray they are good role models to these boys.
Glenvar won 47-0.  Go Glenvar!!!
