In Loving Memory of NINJA!

Today marks the 1 year Anniversary of Ninja's passing. Ninja lived a full life and provided our home with much love and laughter as well as companionship, but his health was fading and we knew his quality of life was awful. Our home adjusted quickly to his passing, but not ONE week goes by without someone, in our home, mentioning his name.
When we got him cremated, I refused to look in his paw print box to see his ashes. It was just way too hard. I told myself I would do it on the one year anniversary he died to "pay him some respect". As I sit in my living room in silence, while the rest of the family sleeps, I decided to stick to it. When I opened the box, my heart sunk. I know, it seems silly, but it just made me so sad to think that ashes are all that's left of him. It was a reminder that he really is gone. It hurts.
I really miss him so much, but I will be honest and say, I don't miss having an animal. I am grateful for the 13 years we did have with him and I really pray that one day our children will get to experience the love of a dog again. For now, they will just have to settle for loving their fish, frogs, and now a hamster. I'm not sure Darren or I will ever agree to another dog :(
In the car today, I reminded the family that today marks the one year anniversary of Ninja's death. Darren and Ty were stunned. We all feel likes it's been much longer than that. Tyson said, "It feels like it's been a million years since he died." I have to say, I agree, even though a million years is a bit of an exaggeration.

We love you Ningy!
