Apple + Jax = Apple Jacks

After deciding what Lilah would bring for "All About Apples" show and tell, Thursday, I was racking my brains for Jax. Clearly, his show and tell had to be just a "juicy" as hers.  After the kids left for school this morning, I was cleaning up breakfast. One of my children had apple jacks for breakfast and I noticed they didn't finish it. I began talking to myself, saying (oh- and don't act like you don't ever talk to yourself - yes it makes you look crazy, but when no one else is home, it seems normal) "How could one NOT finish a bowl of apple jacks?"  "APPLE JACKS!"  Ding, ding!  The light bulb went off.  I've got to incorporate APPLES, JAX, and APPLE JACKS together for show and tell.  Low and behold... that's exactly what I did.  

Man O' Day if Jax's name sure did come in handy for this occasion!

I created a word document on my computer, using a piece of apple clip art, a catchy phrase, and word art!  I am very pleased with the outcome. Feel free to use my file to create your own catchy phrase, for your child's classmates/apple event. This apple craft/snack would also be perfect for an apple orchard field trip.  To receive the file, just ask me via email, and I will send it your way.  I need to figure out how to create download files for my viewers. 

Punch a hole through the apple. String an array of apple jacks through a pipe clear and walaa!  The final outcome is adorable. Jax was laughing so hard when I showed it to him.  He cannot wait to show his classmates.

On the apple it reads: "Apple + Jax = Apple Jacks"

On the leaf it reads: "Watch out for the worm!"

A Hungry Worm!

Every Thursday, Lilah and Jax have show and tell. The first three weeks they had either "free choice" or they had to bring something that started with the letter "A/B" and "C/D".  This week, they were instructed to bring anything related to apples.  I had some ideas: applesauce, apple iPod, a photo of them at the apple orchard, caramel, apple lollipops, etc.... My list was endless and all original, I must add.  LOL!  My brain was in turmoil trying to be as clever as possible for them.  My final idea was also original.....

What shows up sometimes in apples, UNINVITED?  A hungry worm.  

I bought the following:

(2) Fake Apples ($$$ Dollar Tree $$$)  LOVE THAT STORE!!!  These would be $6.99 at Pier 1 or Target. 
(1) Bag of Gummy Worms ($1.50 Kroger).

When Lilah pulls out her show and tell tomorrow, I think her classmates will be thrilled to know they not only get to SEE it, but they also get to TASTE it.

Dancing LOUD And Proud!

This year, Lilah has some exciting additions coming her way, in regards to dance.  She has been promoted to Kindertap. Kindertap includes both ballet and tap dancing. Out of the 8 little girls that have been in her class, for the last two years, Liley and only two others have been promoted up! This is super exciting for Lilah because she has been waiting years to get a pair of those noisy shoes. LOL!

Yesterday, I peaked inside the dance studio she was practicing in, through a VERY tini tiny crack, and got to watch her in action, as she tapped.  I was blown away by her concentration and keen ear that she was lending to her teacher.  I am such a proud momma.  I can't wait to see how she grows this year at Miss Mona's.

There are so many times that a song just really speaks to me.  Today, this happened.  I absolutely LOVE this song, "Burn Away", by Meredith Andrews.  I hope you do too.
