Doh Vinci

On Saturday, we hopped in the van, on a dreary, wet day and headed over to Toys R' Us. I received an email from Toys R' Us with the above advertisement: "FREE" DohVinci event. Does anyone NOT like free stuff?  Especially when it involves children x 3.

One of my favorite blogs that I follow, Meet The Dubiens, Jill, the writer, did a post on the Doh Vinic, just a few days prior to receiving this advertisement.  It looked cool, but I had never heard of it and wasn't sure where to get it AND THEN... I got an invite to personally try it.  LOL! It's so weird how that works out sometimes.

When we arrived to Toys R' Us, it didn't seem like the event was taking place.  I thought maybe I had the date wrong. Haha.  I think our family was THE ONLY ONE interested.  We were the first ones on the scene (even being 30 minutes late). Oooooo-kay! Whatever. That just means more for us.  We even asked the cashier where the Doh Vinci event was and she seemed clueless.  Darren just laughed... "Way to go mommy!"  Hehe.

We finally found the Doh Vinci tables. They were set up in the back of the store.
For the sake of re-inventing the wheel, I am copying Jill Dubien's description of what exactly Doh Vinci is...

Doh Vinci is a brand new craftivity for girls made by Hasbro – the makers of Play Doh. Doh Vinci is a customizable craft kit that allows kids to have complete control over their craft – without the mess.
It’s super easy to use. All you have to do is insert the deco pop (that come in a wide variety of colors) into the styler, close the styler and start creating. They even come with fun attachments so that you can squeeze out cute designs like flowers, hearts and stars! Allow your art project to dry overnight and you’re left with an ever-lasting art masterpiece!
The kids got to work and fast...
See the "doh" coming out at the tip of the "styler" gun? It almost reminds me of a hot glue gun for kids, but instead of glue, it's play-doh.
The kids worked on creating a picture frame. Mine is below. Yes, I had to try it. LOL! As I type this, I just realized, I could use this to write my hubby love notes on the mirror or his windshield. The options are endless.
Lilah's is below.  Excuse the poor image quality. #iphone

Along with our free experience of Doh Vinci, we received a coupon for $4 off of a starter kit.  Of course, being this is so cool to me and to my artsy infatuated kids, I bought the starter kit.  WHICH by the way is SOOOO affordable. The starter kit I bought was $7.99 and then I used the $4.00 off coupon, so I got the starter kit for $3.99. This is definitely something I think everyone should buy for a rainy day.
I also bought some extra "Deco Pop" so we'd have plenty of colors to work with. The re-fill kit was only $4.99 and came with three colors and some art board work.
Incase you are still confused on how this works exactly, view the video below.
