Misunderstood Monday

When Tyson got home from school today, we practiced writing his last name in D'Nealian font. For those of you who do not yet have school aged children, this is the style of handwriting that is being taught. I never thought Tyson going to kindergarten would cause me to have to learn a new handwriting technique. D'Nealian is a style of writing that was designed to ease the learning of cursive and print handwriting.

Anyway, Tyson has known how to write his full name for several years now. However, this was the homework that was assigned to him and being I have to initial his homework sheet, we did it, even though it was a simple task.

A cute discussion took place while doing his homework.

Mommy: "Be sure to stay within the lines provided on the paper. Think of the rules of writing similar to the rules of football. Stay in bounds or else you'll get a foul or a bad grade.

Tyson: "No mom! When you get out of balance in football, you don't get a foul, you just get the whistle blown at you for being out of balance."

Mommy: "Oh, okay. Well, you don't want me to blow my whistle at you for being out of balance do you?"

Tyson: "No."

I thought it was so cute how he misunderstood the word "out of bounds" for "out of balance." That's a small snidbit of our Monday!
