Tyson's NFL - College Football - Preteen Bedroom

Just like Jax's room, Tyson's room has been a L-O-N-G time in the making.  We started the make-over process from "vroom vroom cars" to "ALL SPORTS" almost 2 years ago.  He's even had two different bedroom suites. We started with bunk beds, which had an actual set of steps (not a ladder), and then moved to a more transitional bedroom suite (after the furniture store allowed us to exchange the bunk beds).

The bedroom set we decided on was purchased in High Point, NC, the furniture capital of the world, at Furniture Land South.  It's the ONLY place to buy furniture in my opinion :)  We chose the Treasure Collection in an espresso wood finish.  I think this is very pre-teen looking, but will also transition into his teenage years.

The theme of Ty's room was a GIVEN.  He is a sports L-O-V-E-R.  Basketball and football are his favorite, so we centered the room around those two sports, in particular.
Every detail counts, including the night light.
Purchased at Kirkland's Home Store.
We hung this basketball "hoop" onto his closet doors.
Cee Cee and Poppy bought this for Tyson a while back.
Every single night, Tyson takes his "stuffed" sports balls, off his bed, and uses them to make baskets.  It's a GREAT "something" that Ty and his brother use, each night, before bed.
Even the pull string on the fan has a football accent/charm.
After mounds and mounds of searches, a few purchases and then returns, we centered his room around the NFL Sheet Set that we purchased at Pottery Barn Teen.  We also purchased the Rugby Duvet Cover from Pottery Barn Teen.  I thought it was a nice combination.  Keeping the bed kid friendly and adult classy; making both child and mommy happy.

Up close picture of the sheets and the teams.
My favorite item in Tyson's room is the Varsity Football Wall Mural.
It takes up 3/4 of a wall, in his bedroom, and it looks PERFECT.
We added grey, "black out", full length, curtains (purchased from Bed, Bath, & Beyond).
We took a HUGE step, out of our comfort zone, and painted the ceiling "TOTALLY TEAL" by  Glidden.  My friend Erin painted her dining room this color and I was able to see it in person. She suggested that it would go perfect with the top color of the football mural (which is closest color to the ceiling). I really wanted to do teal, as well, because it is the same color as Tyson's FAVORITE NFL football team, the Philadelphia, Eagles. The rest of the walls are "Comfort Grey" by Sherwin Williams.
Another view of Tyson's room from a different corner of the room.
 Tyson's trophies!
My second favorite item in Tyson's room is this 3D Deco Football Night Light.  Tyson uses this every single night as an additional night light.  The coolest feature is the 3D crack sticker.  It appears as if the football was thrown into his wall.  AND I love that it is cordless. Be sure, to click, on the link above, to watch a video clip of the night light.  It's incredible!!! OR check out this website (other 3D Deco Lights). They offer a ton of different style 3D lights for all types of sports and super hero lovers, as well as people with other interests. As much as I want this light to be exclusive to Tyson's room, I am HIGHLY considering the Butterfly Light for Lilah's room and the Spiderman Hand Light for Jaxon's room (#possibleChristmasgifts). They are just TOOOOOO cool.
Grandad gave Tyson an original photo of when he played football. I felt that was CRITICAL to have displayed in Tyson's bedroom. Special, right?

My third favorite item in Ty's room is the "Let's..Go..Hokies" Stoplight, purchased at our local Gobbler Gear Store.  The Virginia Tech Hokies flashing stoplight is a great way to show VT team spirit.  Each light boldly flashes ONE at a time.
A few other small details that helped create an athlete's room.
Every boy's room needs a hat rack.
Ty has started collecting hats, but rarely wears them... grrr.
A displayed Eagles jersey, designed by mommy, with Michael Vick's jersey #7 and the word "FORGIVEN" on it.  We are not sure if Michael Vick is truly a Christian or NOT, but the word forgiven, if anything, is a great reminder for Tyson and a great conversation piece for Tyson to use with his buddies. #greatcommission #matthew28:16-20
This wall art was the final piece (aside from the crown molding) that completed Tyson's room.  We were going to frame Tyson's football jersey, but the cost was around $200 (YIKES).  We also had thoughts of framing Lane Stadium OR the Eagles Stadium, but I got impatient.  I wanted immediate gratification  So instead, we splurged on this Virginia Tech Legends framed art, purchased at Tailgators, in the Tanglewood Mall.  It has Bruce Smith, Antonio Freeman, Michael Vick, and Tyrod Taylor.  This piece hangs above Tyson's bed. Go Hokies!!!

I'm so thankful this room is DONE!  The ONLY detail we have LEFT to finish is the crown molding - where the wall and ceiling meet.  We have a gentleman working up a price for us as we speak.  It should look something like this.  I think crown molding will give the room an extra "kick" and definitely define the walls from the ceiling - making each color POP!
