The Candy Cane Song

I have so much to blog about, as you can see from the past few days.  It seems like it's endless amounts of posts.  I am trying to post at least 2 posts a day until I am caught up, but with the kids home, the photos are piling up that much faster. It's irking me that these posts arrive out of chronological order, but at least they are getting done.
This post shows the children of West Salem Baptist Church singing the "Candy Cane" song.  A few days prior to this, our church went to a local nursing home and sang this song and others, in front of the residents.  The children sang the Candy Cane song on their own. They did such a fantastic job that Pastor Nick asked them to sing it again, in front of the congregation, on Sunday, before the service.
This song is about the candy cane and how it is a representation of what Jesus has done for us.  The lyrics are below, but my iPhone's storage was full  (only 8 months old) and it only recorded 17 seconds of this song.  Ugh! AND the photos are terrible. I am not giving any credit to APPLE iPhone photography today.
Every time I see a candy cane hanging on a tree
I can't help thinking of the one who gave his life for me

Everything about a candy cane from its color to its shape
reminds me of my Saviors love- that's why I celebrate

A candy cane of red and white
Could just be my favorite sight
Those stripes remind me Jesus paid the price.

Like a shepherd he'll protect me
from the harmful things of life
Through my journeys he'll be walking by my side

A candy cane can taste so sweet
its my favorite Christmas treat
And I can taste the kindness of our Lord

He has offering to forgive me
And to wash me white as snow
I'm his child now and I want the world to know

Next time you see a candy cane hanging on a tree
Stop long enough to ask yourself if a treat is all you see

'Cause everything about a candy cane from its color to its shape
reminds me of my Saviors love- that's why I celebrate.

Worship Wednesday!

Ever Lasting God! "You never change, you're still the same! You are the ever lasting GOD!
Speechless. "Oh your grace!  Oh I need it!  I receive it!  Where would I be without you! I'm nothing without you!"
More Than Anything. "Because of you my cloudy days are gone. I can sing to you this song. I just want to say that I love you more than anything!"

Burn Away!

There are so many times that a song just really speaks to me.  Today, this happened.  I absolutely LOVE this song, "Burn Away", by Meredith Andrews.  I hope you do too.
"ONLY YOU, ONLY YOU!
ALL I NEED, LET NOTHING STAND IN BETWEEN US
MAKE ME YOURS
CONSUMING FIRE...
BURN AWAY, EVERYTHING THAT BREAKS YOUR HEART
EVERYTHING THAT IS NOT LOVE
PURIFY MY EVERY THOUGHT
TAKE AWAY EVERYTHING THAT COMES BETWEEN US
EVERYTHING THAT IS UNTRUE
JESUS MAKE ME MORE LIKE YOU
BURN AWAY!"

If ONLY that could be EVERYONE'S wants and desires this world would be such a better place.

You Make Beautiful Things!

I LOVE THIS SONG!  God makes beautiful things OUT of us.  We are the most unlovely creatures to walk this planet. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ's death and resurrection, and our willingness to submit our lives to him through FULL obedience and faith, we are perceived beautiful and righteous in His eyes.  What a merciful and gracious gift!

Let Them See You!

Below, a song, but really a beautiful prayer that every Christian should so desperately crave/desire.  Let them see you Christ in me, let them hear you Christ when I speak, let them feel you Christ, when I sing.

Every thing we do should scream Christ, so that we can be a walking advertisement for how He changes our life, each and every day, and the beautiful promises offered to us because we know and believe in Him.

Christ Alone, Cornerstone!

We have been singing this song, on Sundays, and our family has really taken a liking to it, ESPECIALLY Tyson.  It's insanely adorable to not only receive the request to listen to it but also to hear him sing it as loud as he possibly can....... beautifully too!!!

"Christ alone, Cornerstone.
Weak made strong.
In the Savior's LOVE.
Through the Storm.
He is LORD.
LORD OF ALL."

"I Find You" On My Knees!

ANOTHER INCREDIBLE SONG!!! I could listen to this one all day long!

"Here" by Kari Jobe!

Kari Jobe is one of my favorite Christian artists.  She has such a mesmerizing way of singing, not to mention she's beautiful and her lyrics touch my heart and seem so real to everyday life.  This song, "Here", is so bitter-sweet for me.  I find the lyrics "sweet" because I personally can "rest", "lay my burdens down", finding "refuge" and "peace" in HIM.  The lyrics are "bitter" for me because when I listen to them, I think of all the people who I love, that don't know Him, and who carry such heavy burdens and live very painful/difficult lives.  If only they knew Him, life wouldn't be flawless, but much more simple because their joy would be rooted in Him and they would be working towards a greater goal.  I serve a powerful God and I have faith that His will is best and that He will save those whom He chooses to save!!!  I pray that includes those I am thinking of right now. Praying "YOU will find HIM", if you haven't already done so.

"Behold The Lamb"

Tonight, our Church performed their first out of two Christmas performances.  Gretchen, our choir leader/pastor's wife, begins planning months and months in advance for this "musical".  Both the children and the adults begin practicing in mid-August.  Gretchen is "no holds bar" and expects precise, clear, well vocalized music out of children and adults of all ages.  She certainly received that tonight.  I have been to at least four of our performances since being a member at West Salem Baptist Church, and by far, this show ranks as the BEST/TOP musical to date.  It was completely FLAWLESS.
I was so proud of Tyson.  He did so well!!
He played the role of one of the many slaves.
We would love for YOU to join us tomorrow night for the last performance:

Where: West Salem Baptist Church
When:  December 16th @ 6:30 pm
Cost: FREE
The message is quite clear.... A Holy God, sinful people (us), and the shedding of a spotless lamb's blood (Jesus).  Our need for a savior.  A way into Heaven IF we have FAITH and REPENT (turn away from our sin).  It's a message of TRUTH, LOVE, MERCY, and GRACE.  It's a message that comes with good news.

Grandad and Grandnee, thanks for joining us. I am so glad you enjoyed the show!!!! How could you not, right?

Grace Amazing!

It is only by the blood of Christ that we will live on after this life!
Praise HIM this day!
You found my heart in the tomb
Wrapped up all lifeless and bruised
I was the living dead
Couldn't even lift up my head
To see You enter the room
Oh, Oh, Oh

That's how it is with us all
We weren't just damaged we fell dead at the fall
Only the innocent can breathe the air again
Underground, over my head
I'm almost sure I'm dead

Unless You breath life into me
I won't ever feel my dead heart beating
But you open these blind eyes to see
That's what makes Your grace amazing

No one can come to the Son
Unless the Father compels him to come
Our hearts are bottomless
If we're autonomous
Why do we choose corruption
Underground, over my head
I'm almost sure I'm dead

Unless You breath life into me
I won't ever feel my dead heart beating
But you open these blind eyes to see
That's what makes Your grace amazing

Who's a cripple encased in his heart of stone
Christ's the name that I'm calling on, calling on
He's the hope for the hopeless, yall
We were saved when He chose and called
Where is life if its not in the King
You're the God, lift Him up to all things
To His One, His Son

Trip Lee:
Look, you might have heard I was dead in the grave
With some shackles on my wrist
I was very enslaved to the lusts and the passions
In various ways
In the band, on the horse, I was dead and depraved
Sight wasn't just blurry and vague
I was blind as a bat, couldn't thoroughly gaze
At the glory of Christ or the story of life
The Father said come to Him, but I hurried away

I was stuck, couldn't choose to be found
Tell me when the last time
You seen a dead man moving around
Couldn't buy my freedom I was truthfully bound
Couldn't get myself saved
I was shooting them down
Only by Gods will does grace heal with great might
Cuz only the words of God can create life
Give joy, remove shackles and replace shame
I was raised by grace and I praise Christ

chorus:
You breath life into me
Now I finally feel my dead heart beating
You open my eyes to see
That's what makes Your grace amazing

You breath life into me
Now I finally feel my dead heart beating
You open my eyes to see
That's what makes Your grace amazing

You give me grace amazing
Praise God for that grace amazing
You give me grace amazing
Praise God for that grace amazing

You Love Me Anyway

This song makes me feel so rewarded to be God's child EVEN THOUGH, I am the reason His son was crushed, beaten, bled, and died.
"I am the thorn in your crown, but you love me anyway.
I am the sweat from your brow, but you love me anyway.
I am the nail in your wrist, but you love me anyway.
I am Judas Iscariot, but you love me anyway.
I am the man who yelled out from the crowd for your blood to be spread on this earth shaking ground.
I turned away with a smile on my face, with this sin in my heart, trying to bury your grace.
But you love me anyway, it's like NOTHING in my life that I've ever known."

WOW!!! What lyrics. I am all of those things, yet he still loves me anyway. What an amazing grace!

Phillippians 4:8

This is our family's new favorite song!
A few of the lyrics...

"Think about such things! Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable."

My hubby bought the "Seeds of Worship" cd for me for my birthday. It was by far my favorite gift and he got me some GREAT stuff.

The twins and I were the ONLY ones in Food Lion yesterday and we were singing this up and down the aisle. Too bad it was an empty grocery store because we sure would have been evangelizing.

Check out the cd here (click on the word here).

How He Loves - Featuring John Piper

All TO US!

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
