North Roanoke Jamboree 2015

The Glenvar Highlanders played in another scrimmage on Saturday.  It was called the "North Roanoke Jamboree".  The weather was gorgeously hot.  LOL!  The boys did great, suffering a little humility, losing by a touchdown.  Enjoy a small slide show I put together. I am also posting a few of my favorite photos below for the FULL effect. I am SUPER excited for their first game on Wednesday, September 9th.  Come out and support our Glenvar Highlanders.

Jax Learns To SWIM!!!!

He's no longer a "fish out of water" or a fish with swimmies.  Jax accomplished learning how to swim, by simply practicing and due to an insane amount of swimming on our 8 day beach vacation!

This was the highlight of the vacation FOR me and I'm sure for Jax as well.

ODDLY, Lilah cannot swim above water YET, but is braving swimming UNDER the water.  I'm not sure which task is harder?!?!?!?! She swam the entire lazy river under the water (obviously with coming up for air), but I didn't have my video camera on me to capture it.  It was really interesting to watch because she was literally teaching herself.  It looked like those videos, you can view on youtube, of newborns being thrown into the water, forcing them to swim on their own.

WWE Wrestling Match AKA An Early Birthday Present

In just two weeks, our family has attended a Nascar race and now a WWE wrestling match.  I can guarantee you this will NOT be a semi-annual thing :)  Tyson is truly blessed and really isn't in "need" of nor is he "wishing" for much this year, so since his baseball game was cancelled, due to rain, we bought him tickets, last minute, to the WWE wrestling match.  

The way we presented the tickets to him...  I wanted to present the tickets to him in a way that was funny/fun.  I quickly came up with the idea of using the wrestling figurines, the ring, and Lilah's doll house cake accessories.  I made it look like John Cena, Macho Man Randy Savage, and The Rock were having a party and eating cake.

Of course, what good is a wrestling match if you don't have the tacky, redneck t-shirt to wear?

I had at least two people on a hunt for these shirts.  Shawn and Kaitlyn were able to find the boys these John Cena shirts.  This is Tyson's favorite wrestler.  Ty knows the lyrics to his theme song, "You can't see me!"

Darren refused to bring the camera.  BOOOOO! So "all I got was this lousy video".

The boys seemed to enjoy it.  Tyson shared with me this morning how a few guys almost died.  LOL!  I guess he believes it's real.  

A few TOP things that came out of the hubby's mouth upon returning home

*I was more entertained by the people being entertained.
*Do people really think this is real?
*The only reason people actually go to these things is because they sell beer.
*First a nascar race, now a wrestling match.  What has gotten into me?
*The guy next to me was so distracting.  He had ketchup and mustard all over himself and his hot dog.

Jaxon Is On A Soccer Team

Tyson plays three different sports and Lilah does ballet. We figured it was time Jax has an extra curricular activity of his own.  We would have signed him up sooner, but technically, you have to be 4 years old to do anything.  Fortunately, the YMCA allowed us to sign Jax up being he is only two weeks shy of turning 4.  Soccer was Tyson's first sport.  Actually, the first time Tyson played soccer, the twins were 3 weeks old.  Check out Ty FIRST soccer photo here.

The first game was rough.  It was insanely cold and Jax was under the weather.  He had been anticipating his first game like you wouldn't believe, but due to it being cold and him having a cold, he cried the entire time.  He just wouldn't cooperate. Darren and I were both disappointed.  

You can see the pep talks taking place, but they did NO good. Jax could not be convinced, at neither the first game nor half of the second game, to play!  Check out his tears in the photo above.

The follow week, Jax refused to play until Darren left early for a "men's outing".  I somehow convinced Jax to play and wouldn't you know, he scored a goal.  It took much convincing, on my part, for Darren to even believe it.  

 BUT THEN... he got the urge to play and play hard by game #3.

Today's game time was AWESOME!  Jax played in the entire game.  He is the youngest player on the team, but boy did he perform well.  His little face was bright red and he had a grin on his face from ear to ear.  Mommy and Daddy were really proud of him.  He did a fantastic job.  We are thankful to God that he restored Jax's enthusiasm to play!!
