Who Wants To Be In My Girl Gang?
Shrek The Musical!
Lilah and I have been attending a few of the local plays around town, over the last year. Ever since Lilah was in Snow White, we've both been more and more interested to watch others in action. Once I saw the advertisement for Shrek, the musical, I asked Lilah if she wanted to go (because I wanted to) and she immediately said "YES!"
We had a special night on the town planned and invited Gram to join us. Lilah treated it like a real date and knocked on the door to pick her up. Poppy said hello, but NO BOYS ALLOWED.
And we were off...
We headed downtown for dinner, the candy store, and the musical SHREK!
We met Lilah's BFF and family (not daddy) at Alejandro's. Doesn't every perfect night start with chips and salsa?
After dinner, we headed to the local Candy Store. It's actually called "The Candy Store". LOL!
I am so glad that Lilah has met her match. She was teary one day and said, "Mom. I just really love Avery. She's like a sister to me. I feel sad when I am not with her."
Gram had to get in there a snag a pic. I was glad that she was able to join us. I know it meant a lot to her.
Downtown photos always turn out so good. Look at this sweet photo I captured of Avery with her momma.
And then my mom stole the show in the candy store. I swear, she always keeps us entertained.
Until the candy store attendant stole the show by bombing our photo.
Shrek, the musical, was incredible.
The entire show was great, but the role of Lord Farquaad had us all dying laughing. His costume was HILARIOUS.
It really kept everyone's attention.
This outing was so sweet. Of course, it had to end with a sleepover. Haha. Lilah finally used her sleepover coupon that she got in one of her hidden, Easter eggs to invite Avery over.

P.S. Thank goodness I have boys. LOL! I enjoyed using their plastic football helmets, footballs, and faux turf grass to create this "tough" looking scene.

"YES Day" Results!!!
Well, "Yes Day" came and went and let me start out this post by saying, I WILL NEVER do that again! Write.It.Down. Hold me to it.
Above, I had the kids read the rules out loud and AGREE to all of the guidelines.
The twins started their morning eating candy!
Then they asked me to eat a kitkat mini and I had to say, "YES"! I definitely was NOT thrilled with eating candy at 9:00 a.m.
"Yes Day" included a trip to Target, dressed the way Lilah felt happiest. Ugh... This outfit is her go to outfit. She'd wear it daily if she could. Not sure why. Socks and slides?? SMH. Unbrushed hair. Sigh...
It also included: A Venti "Pink Drink".
"Can I put Target stickers on your butt?" Yes! REALLY.
Goofing around on the shopping carts, making my trip to Target ANYTHING but fun.
Oh and where was Tyson? HE was home doing what he wanted to do, which was play playstation for 7 hours straight.
Lilah spent her $15 "Yes Day" allowance on Starbuck's and Elmer's Glue.
Jax spent $10 of his "Yes Day" allowance on PURE JUNK.
Jax also purchased himself a gift card, to Game Stop, with his own money. I agreed to let him buy himself a $25.00 gift card with ZERO hesitation, but when I got off the phone, that $25.00 turned quickly into $45.00. YUP, you bet your bottom dollar that I said "NO!" on "Yes Day" and it was not a HAPPY moment. The guilt trips were happening fast and HARD. "You are already saying no on Yes Day!" Dang RIGHT. One of the guidelines was that they could not make any permanent decisions and the last time I checked, spending $45 on FortNite gift cards is a permanent way to go BROKE for a 9 year old.
WHY? Because my kids were just too manipulative about it. I would ask Lilah to push her chair in and she would immediately turn around and say, "Mom, can you push my chair in?" Ty literally missed breakfast and lunch and then had to go to football practice on an empty stomach. Lilah realized at 8:30 p.m. that not only had she NOT eaten one meal, but she also hadn't eaten any snacks with substance either. It was all sugar and that Venti pink drink. After Cheer Camp, she was DYING and I mean DYING of starvation and her attitude was quickly being affected. The lack of self-control and inability to make wise choices irked me. The unwillingness to be respectful and still desire to be a servant to their home and their parents was too much for me. I truly didn't think that this day, which was meant to be fun, was glorifying God in anyway.
I wish I had thought this through a little better AND IF YOU CHOOSE to try a "yes day", I HIGHLY recommend NOT telling your kids that you are having a yes day and JUST SAY "YES" to things, all day long, that you don't normally say yes to and it will just SHOCK them and really make their day!
My kids are just too old and too smart, hence the reason they either manipulated the entire day or made absurd choices for themselves! I learned that I am definitely a mom who is addicted to saying "NO"! I'm NO FUN! I feel bad that the day didn't go quite as I had hoped and anticipated. I really was excited for this day and excited to see how it all unfolded. In the end, I think both myself and my kids realized that it's a good thing they are NOT SOLELY responsible for themselves because their choices would cause them to be sick, fat, lazy, unproductive, broke, starving or worse dead. LOL!

Lilah Welcomes Fourth Grade!
My beautiful girl is growing up so fast. Before I have time to sneeze, she'll be heading off to middle school. Ugh, I am truly not sure if I am ready for that. It's so different having a daughter versus having a son. The emotions are so different. As are the ways I handle things. They just are. I never thought I'd say that. I hated when my dad would allow my brother to do things before I could (I am the oldest).
Lilah couldn't have made me any happier during this back-to-school photo shoot.
She acted just like herself: a little spit fire, filled with spunk and personality.
I purchased many outfits for her FIRST DAY. I took a small poll, which included my top, four, favorite outfits. It was pretty much a tie, neck and neck, between the outfit she's wearing above and the outfit below that included pearls.
I allowed her to have the final say. I also allowed her to decide on how she wanted me to do her hair. She exclaimed, "I want a semi-high ponytail and I want you to curl a few pieces with the curling wand, to hang in the front." Works for me! I wanted to do 1 of 2 other styles, but I needed to practice them, but ran out of time. I was also NOT sure that I would have time to successful do those hairstyles, the morning of the first day, so STAY TUNED for some challenges that I am putting myself up against, in the future, with her hair.
This girl fills my heart with gladness.
"Bring on 4th Grade!"
Right before I took these photos, it was TORRENTIAL DOWN POUR RAINING. I knew it would stop fast and look what arrived for US, right when the rain subsided. A RAINBOW!!! I took this as a sign, from God, that this girl's fourth grade year would be as beautiful as a rainbow!!!
Oh and we painted her fingers and toe nails PINK. I used her gel polish machine.
How cute are her wedges? I want a pair so bad.
I feel like, in the below photo, she is saying, "HOW is Summer over already?"
Her book bag was purchased like three weeks into the Summer. When I saw it, I gasped for air. I couldn't resist it.
I loved so much about it. I loved that a pair of lips was hanging off it. I mean, what mini lip boss doesn't love lips?
I also loved all of the mix and match fabrics, textures, and patterns.
I just LOVE it and so did LILAH! This book bag, surprisingly, was found at Gabe's. It was designed by Betsey Johnson.
And then, when we spotted this CUTE, panda bear pencil pouch, I HAD to grab it. It matches the book bag perfectly. Do you want one just like it, for your daughter? Click here to order.
